How Dmitriy Makarov’s GMG Mindset Shapes a Modern Marketing Agency

London-based entrepreneur Dmitriy Makarov has built an international marketing agency around a personal philosophy he refers to as GMG: Grind. Mastery. Growth. From his early days working on freelance projects to founding a marketing agency that now employs over 100 people and works with global names such as BMW, Intel, Durex, Nivea and Domino’s, Makarov credits this mindset with guiding his career.

The GMG approach is simple in outline but demanding in practice. “Grind stands for constant work on yourself, your skills, your business. From first freelance projects to running an agency, every step came from persistence,” he says. “Mastery relates to developing expertise in marketing, analytics and management, as well as acquiring a deeper understanding of people and processes. Growth, meanwhile, is not only financial but also personal and collective, from supporting an individual colleague to building a truly international agency.”

Biohacking for focus and discipline

Makarov’s philosophy extends beyond the world of business strategy. He has adopted biohacking methods, usually associated with elite athletes, to help maintain performance in the office. He believes that the most effective professional is not a “robot with a regimen,” but someone with “a smart balance between workload, recovery and personal needs.”

His own approach includes keeping mornings and evenings free of screens, eating a diet centred on whole foods with little sugar, and making time for regular exercise. Far from a passing trend, Dmitriy Makarov sees biohacking as a framework for focus and discipline.

“In the end, biohacking is not about controlling every second. It is about an internal ecosystem with room for rest and flexibility, but also internal discipline that keeps you focused,” he explains.

Technology and experimentation

Throughout his career, Dmitriy Makarov has placed importance on experimentation. He has tried intermittent fasting in the 16:8 format and explored a range of supplements, though he is quick to warn against treating such practices as shortcuts. “Any supplement is just a tool, not a replacement for sleep, nutrition, recovery and balanced workload,” he notes.

Technology also plays a role in his daily routine. Wearable devices such as Whoop help him track heart rate variability, sleep quality and levels of strain. This data, he says, provides insights that help him adjust his workload and prevent burnout. “The device adapts its recommendations to you; it is not just stats but a personal algorithm,” he explains.

A philosophy for growth

The story of Dmitriy Makarov demonstrates how persistence, adaptability and an attention to both physical and mental performance can shape a successful career. His GMG philosophy is at once straightforward and demanding, rooted in the belief that sustained effort and balance are the cornerstones of long-term achievement.

For the entrepreneur, both GMG and biohacking form part of the same principle: an intentional, disciplined approach that supports not only business growth but also personal resilience.
