Prime Video used its Mike Flanagan-led Comic-Con panel on Saturday to lock in the premiere date and release the show's debut teaser, according to Deadline. All eight episodes will land at once on October 7, rather than in a weekly rollout.
Flanagan told the crowd he wasn't interested in simply retelling a familiar story. "Carrie was adapted spectacularly by Brian De Palma," Flanagan said, according to Deadline, framing his version instead as a look at growing up amid active-shooter drills and social-media pile-ons.
What the teaser shows
The teaser leans into recognizable Carrie imagery: classmates collapsing on a school gymnasium floor, a prom-night crowning, and a fire-lit aftermath. Prime Video described the footage as hinting at "new dimensions still to come," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series follows Carrie White, a teenager kept largely isolated at home by her mother, Margaret. After her father's death forces her into public high school, Carrie is pulled into a bullying scandal that spreads online, all while her telekinetic abilities begin to surface.

Stephen King's Carrie was his debut novel, published in 1974. It spent 14 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and has since been translated into more than 35 languages, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The book has reached screens three times before: Brian De Palma's Oscar-nominated 1976 film, a 2002 television movie and a 2013 remake, plus a 1999 sequel to the original film. Prime Video's series marks the first time the story has been adapted for television.

Carrie is set to stream day-and-date in the UK, with all eight episodes releasing across more than 240 countries and territories on October 7, according to Amazon MGM Studios. A standard Prime Video subscription in the UK currently costs £5.99 a month, with an additional £2.99 a month for the ad-free tier, according to What Hi-Fi?. No BBFC rating for the series had been published at the time of writing.
