Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have two children: daughter Wyatt Isabelle, who turns 12 today, and son Dimitri Portwood, 9. The couple, married since 2015, keep their kids out of the spotlight but have opened up about parenting for years. Here's everything they've said.

Key Facts

  • Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher was born Oct. 1, 2014, and turns 12 on Thursday.
  • Dimitri Portwood Kutcher was born Nov. 30, 2016, weighing 8 pounds, 15 ounces.
  • Their stated goal is raising grounded, hardworking kids who understand what money is worth.
  • The pair have said they want their children to choose for themselves whether to be public.

Meet Wyatt Isabelle and Dimitri Portwood

The couple, who became co-stars on That '70s Show before marrying in July 2015, welcomed Wyatt first, followed by Dimitri two years later. Dimitri's middle name honors Kutcher's late stepfather, Mark Portwood. (More on how the family guards its privacy below.)

Both children have appeared in public only rarely. In May 2024, Wyatt and Dimitri made a rare appearance with their parents at a WNBA game in Los Angeles, where they also met basketball star Caitlin Clar, per PEOPLE.

Raising Kids Who Understand Money

Kunis, 43, has been candid about what she and Kutcher, 48, want most for their kids. She has said the pair discussed how to raise children who aren't entitled before they ever became parents. Both grew up with little money, and neither wants that lesson lost on the next generation.

"We're very aware of what a dollar is worth," Kunis has said, per HuffPost. It's a heartfelt reminder that fame hasn't changed their priorities. Kunis added that she tells her kids, in plain terms, that the bank account belongs to the parents.

Sharing the Load at Home

Kutcher has been refreshingly candid about who did the heavy lifting early on. On Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast in 2018, he said Kunis did "way more than her share" of the night wakeups, per Life & Style's recap. He estimated the split at roughly 80/20, because Kunis was breastfeeding.

Credit goes both ways. Kunis has spoken openly about nursing in restaurants, parks and airports. She said she simply had to feed her child.

They've also shared a creative bedtime trick. Kunis said the couple parent a lot like a classic sitcom dad. "We're like Full House," she said, per Fox News. Wyatt asks for stories from her parents' real lives, and a lesson of the day often gets worked in. Kutcher joked about being compared to Bob Saget, a nod to the late Bob Saget.

Parenting Fails and Funny Confessions

Kunis isn't shy about her missteps. On Ellen DeGeneres's Mom Confessions series, she said she told Wyatt to push back after a classmate shoved her, and Kutcher disagreed. Kunis called it a "parenting fail," according to ET.

Her advice for new parents was just as deadpan. "Kids are like little terrorists," Kunis said in 2021, per ET. It's classic Kunis humor, and it comes with real wisdom: she also warned parents not to lie to their kids, since it can quietly teach them dishonesty is acceptable. wtmx

The family has had lighter moments too. Kunis took the kids to a "baby rave" and later described it on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (here's Jimmy Kimmel if you're curious). In summer 2022, the family also took "a crazy 10-day road trip."

Heritage, Privacy, and Family Time

Kunis was born in Ukraine, and the family's roots became a talking point at home after Russia's invasion in February 2022. She told Chris Wallace the couple quickly reminded their kids that they are half Ukrainian, per PEOPLE's parenting roundup.

Privacy remains a priority. When Dimitri was born, Kutcher wrote that the couple wanted their kids to decide for themselves whether to live in the public eye, according to the Associated Press. That's why photos of their faces are rare. The family also lives on a farmhouse they nicknamed "KuKu Farms."

Where the Family Stands Now

Today, Wyatt is turning 12 and Dimitri is nearing 10, and their parents are still balancing Hollywood careers with a low-key home life. They haven't changed their approach: humor, honesty and plenty of family time.

The couple's story still resonates with fans who watched them fall for each other on screen. If you're following celebrity romance news, see how Taylor Swift flashed her wedding and engagement rings at the 2026 VMAs and how Pauly D got engaged to Nikki Hall.

Kunis and Kutcher's parenting playbook comes down to staying grounded, laughing at mistakes and protecting their kids' privacy. As Wyatt marks another birthday, expect them to keep sharing small, candid glimpses while letting their children lead the way. Keep reading Bigwritehook for more on the family.
