The Foger Switch Pro is easily one of the most unique vapes on the market today. It has design elements in common with both pod systems and disposable vapes, but it isn’t exactly the same as either of those. That can sometimes lead to confusion when new owners of the Foger vape try to figure out how to use the device – especially when it comes to charging. So, how do you charge a Foger vape?
The reason why the Foger vape doesn’t charge like other vapes is because of its unique two-part design – and if you happen to be wondering why we called the Foger Switch Pro a “two-part” vape, that’s probably why you’re having trouble charging it. In this guide, we’ll explain what’s going on.
How the Foger Vape Works
The Foger Switch Pro consists of two parts. The first part is the pod, which stores the device’s e-liquid. Foger calls it a pod, but it’s different from a traditional vape pod because a pod usually functions as e-liquid storage and nothing more. The Foger pod actually has an internal battery and functions on its own as a vaping device – which is why some people end up getting confused when they try to figure out how to charge the Foger vape.
The second part of the Foger vape is the battery charging dock, which contains most of the device’s battery capacity and is necessary for recharging the pod.
The whole idea behind the Foger Switch Pro is that you can keep the charging dock and save money by just buying the pods in the future. That’s why you can buy the Foger vape with or without the charging dock. Some people, however, buy the Foger pod on its own and end up wondering why they can’t recharge it. If that’s what has happened to you, you’re definitely not the first to encounter that situation.
If you don’t have the Foger charging dock, you won’t be able to charge your pod until you get one – so you’ll have to go back to the vape shop and buy the full Foger Switch Pro kit. Having two pods means that you’ll have twice as much e-liquid, though, so the situation isn’t all bad.
How to Charge the Foger Vape
If you do have both the pod and the charging dock along with a USB-C cable, you have everything you need for charging your Foger vape. Here’s how to do it.
- Connect the charging dock to your computer with the USB-C cable. When you do this, the battery meter under the pod’s control button should light up. In a little less than an hour, the meter should read “100.” At this point, the dock is fully charged.
- Connect the pod to the charging dock. The connection is magnetic, so the device should adhere to the pod when you line up the metal contact points. When you do this, the colored bars above the dock’s USB port should light up. When all four bars are lit, the pod is fully charged.
If you like, you can connect the Foger pod to the dock while the dock charges. The dock and pod will charge at the same time, and you won’t have to wait quite as long.
What to Do if Your Foger Vape Isn’t Charging
The Foger Switch Pro is a bit more complicated than other disposable vapes, which means there are more things that can potentially go wrong when you try to charge the device. If you’re having trouble charging your Foger vape, we’ll give you the help you need. Here’s what you should do, depending on whether you’re having trouble charging the dock or the pod.
Foger Dock Isn’t Charging
If you’re having trouble charging the dock for your Foger vape, you can troubleshoot the problem in essentially the same way that you’d troubleshoot a charging issue with any disposable vape since the Foger dock charges through a USB port. Here’s what you should do.
- Try charging the dock with a different cable. USB cables break easily and often give no warning before they stop working. When you have a charging issue with a vaping device, you can almost always fix it by using a different cable.
- Try a few different power sources and see if one of them works. Ideally, you should always charge a vaping device through your computer. If you don’t have a computer handy, though, you can also use a USB wall adapter with an output of 5 volts and 1 amp.
- Make sure that the dock’s charging port is clean. You can keep the Foger Switch Pro charging dock for much longer than you’d ordinarily keep a disposable vape, and it’s possible that the dock has some lint in the charging port after spending a long time in your pocket. You can remove the lint with a toothpick.
Foger Pod Isn’t Charging
If you’re sure that the dock is charged but are having trouble getting it to charge the pod, that’s where things can get a bit more complicated. Here’s what you should do to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check the pod and the charging dock for a sticker covering the metal contact points. The Foger Switch Pro kit ships with the dock and pod packed together as a single unit. There’s a sticker between the two components to prevent battery drainage, and the pod won’t charge until you’ve removed the sticker.
- Give the pod a gentle twist in both directions while it’s connected to the dock. It’s possible that all of the contact points aren’t touching, and twisting the pod can get it to align properly.
- Make sure that the contacts on both the pod and the dock are clean. You can remove surface tarnish or leaked e-liquid using a cotton swab moistened with a little rubbing alcohol.
- If nothing seems to work, grasp the plastic cover at the base of the pod and give it a gentle twist to remove it. Under the cover, you should see the wires leading from the battery to the charging contacts. Push the contacts and see if they touch the wires. If they don’t, move the wires to realign them.
