Peacock released the first trailer on Tuesday for Dig, a comedy starring actors Amy Poehler and Hugh Laurie, in which a rare artifact found at a Greek dig site sparks adventure; all 10 episodes stream November 23.

TL;DR

  • Peacock released the first Dig trailer and key art on Tuesday, October 27.
  • All 10 episodes arrive together on Monday, November 23.
  • Poehler co-created the series with Michael Schur, and Laurie co-stars.
  • No UK platform or price has been named in Peacock’s announcement.

What the Dig trailer shows

The trailer arrives with a full-season drop, according to the AV Club. All 10 episodes land on Peacock just before Thanksgiving in the US.

Poehler plays Elise, according to TheWrap. She leads a group of dedicated archaeologists and less-dedicated college students spending the summer at a dig site in Greece.

The official logline says the team’s discovery of a rare artifact sends them on an adventure, according to BroadwayWorld.

Who is behind Dig

Michael Schur, co-creator of Parks and Recreation and The Good Place, co-created the series with Poehler. He co-showruns with J.J. Philbin, according to Nerdist.

The show is based on the 2023 novel Excavations by Kate Myers, Consequence reported. It is Poehler and Schur’s first collaboration since Parks and Recreation ended in 2015.

Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas and Fina Strazza join Poehler and Laurie as series regulars. Kayvan Novak, Jon Pointing and Bonita Friedericy are guest cast, according to BroadwayWorld.

British cast and UK availability

Several British performers appear in Dig, according to Cultbox. Laurie is best known for House, while Thomas starred in Misfits, and Novak and Pointing are known for Fonejacker and Big Boys.

Peacock’s announcement does not name a UK broadcaster, streaming platform or price, so a UK release date remains unconfirmed.

UK viewers have other new trailers to track this month, including Apple TV’s heist thriller 12 12 12, which premieres globally on November 13.

Why Dig matters now

Dig is Poehler’s first ongoing live-action series role since Parks and Recreation, according to ABC Audio.

Streaming comedies are competing hard for the pre-Christmas slot. For a related UK streaming story, see how Hulu’s X-Files reboot heads to Disney+ for UK viewers.
