Paramount+ launched MobLand season 2 globally on Friday, 18 September, promoting the return of actor Tom Hardy with a computer-generated Big Ben message from the fictional Harrigan crime family.

TL;DR

  • Season 2 premiered on 18 September, with new episodes every Friday until the 20 November finale.
  • The Big Ben promo was built with visual effects, not a real projection.
  • The core cast returns, and a third season is already confirmed.
  • UK viewers can stream from £5.99 a month.

How Paramount+ put the Harrigans on Big Ben

The promotional clip shows Big Ben apparently displaying the message "GET THE RUN OUT WITH THE HARRIGANS OR ELSE," according to Comic Basics. The outlet said the stunt was made entirely with visual effects rather than an actual projection.

Fiction Horizon noted that Paramount has used similar computer-generated landmark videos before, including for The Naked Gun and The Smurfs. The campaign began earlier, when the show's official account promoted the season 2 trailer on 13 August.

What returns in MobLand season 2

Season 2 follows the Harrigans as they struggle to present a united front while rivals threaten their fractured empire, according to Paramount. Hardy returns as fixer Harry Da Souza, alongside actors Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan.

In the trailer, Harry tells the family it is in a "death spiral," according to Paramount+'s Sneak Peak site. Actor Johnny Flynn joins the cast and said in Paramount's release that a long pub scene with Hardy felt like "boxers in the fifteenth round."

Early reactions to the season 2 premiere

Reviews of the opener, "I Wanna Be Your Dog," focus on a family already turning on itself. TV Fanatic said the episode feels like a reset while continuing season 1's storylines.

Seat42F called the dog-track sequence "thrillingly absurd" and singled out Harry's dawning sense that the family is beyond fixing.

Where to watch MobLand in the UK

MobLand streams on Paramount+ UK & Ireland, with one new episode each Friday, according to the platform's Sneak Peak UK guide. The guide bills it as filmmaker Guy Ritchie's hit crime drama, and all 10 season 1 episodes are available on any plan.

According to Cord Busters, new sign-ups now pay £5.99 a month for Basic with Ads, £9.99 for Standard and £12.99 for Premium. The site said existing subscribers had not all moved to those rates yet. Sky Cinema customers still get Basic with Ads at no extra cost.

Another London-set drama, HBO's War trailer, also arrived on Thursday.

What comes next for MobLand

Episode two, "Song 2," arrives on Friday, 25 September, according to Seat42F. Paramount said the 10-episode run ends with the 20 November finale.

Paramount also confirmed a third season, with Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren all set to return. The announcement came on 3 September, according to Forbes.

For more streaming returns, Netflix's Haunted Hotel season 2 trailer confirms a 9 October comeback.
